Teacher Retirement System of Texas and Alabama Department of Environmental Management websites recognized in the Government Standard of Excellence category

CHICAGO, IL, September 10, 2026 — Promet Source today announced that websites it designed and developed for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management have each received a 2026 WebAward in the Government Standard of Excellence category from the Web Marketing Association.

The awards recognize the TRS and ADEM websites for their approach to public-service information and online access. Both websites were built on Drupal and designed to support people seeking services, records, guidance, forms, public information, and other agency resources.

Teacher Retirement System of Texas

The Teacher Retirement System of Texas website serves more than 2 million active members, retirees, and beneficiaries across Texas’s public education sector.

Promet Source designed and developed the site to organize retirement, health-benefit, and account-management information around common member needs. The site includes pathways for new members, active educators, retirees, administrators, and beneficiaries.

The integrated MyTRS member portal enables users to estimate retirement income, apply for retirement or a refund, view and update account information, access annual statements and 1099-R tax forms, schedule benefit counseling appointments, exchange secure messages with TRS staff, and manage account security settings.

The website was recognized for helping users navigate a complex public retirement system through task-focused content, self-service tools, and information relevant to retirement and health-benefit decisions. Its design and development included screen-reader support, keyboard navigation, multilingual access, accessible publishing practices, and audits conducted by IAAP CPACC-certified accessibility specialists.

The site was built on Drupal and designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

Alabama Department of Environmental Management

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management website provides environmental information, regulatory resources, online services, and public-engagement tools for Alabama residents, regulated businesses, environmental professionals, researchers, and local communities.

Promet Source designed and developed the site to organize information across ADEM’s major environmental program areas, including air, coastal, waste and remediation, and water. The site also provides content pathways for community members, businesses, and people seeking permit or regulatory information.

The website was recognized for its search and discovery features, access to agency portals, interactive tools, and content that helps visitors locate relevant information and services.

Key features include:

  • An eGov Portal for online agency services
  • eFile for electronic submission of regulatory documents
  • eMaps for viewing environmental data through an interactive GIS portal
  • “What’s Happening in Your County?” for county-level agency activity, public notices, and compliance information
  • Public notices, events and meetings, air-quality forecasts, environmental updates, and a publicly trackable complaints process

The site was built on Drupal using Promet Source’s Provus® component-based design system. It supports content workflows, integrations with ArcGIS and external compliance portals, and ongoing content management by ADEM’s internal team. The project was designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, with accessible interaction and content practices incorporated throughout design and development.

The ADEM award review specifically noted the site’s search and discovery paths, portal access, interactive tools, and practical content that helps visitors understand the organization and determine their next step.
