How does Drupal Compare to Joomla?

 

Drupal 7 vs Joomla 1.6

This is a comparison between Drupal 7 and Joomla 1.6.  We evaluate which CMS is best in 5 categories; Installation, administration, code, expandability, and usability.  Lastly, we draw overall conclusion about these two CMS's and help you choose which will work best.  It's no surprise that as an open source Drupal development shop we have already made the decision to commit to Drupal over Joomla.  Here is a bit of a breakdown about how we have come to these conclusions.

 

 

 

 

HTML5 in Drupal 8

Drupal moves to change default doctype from XHTML to HTML5

What is next for Drupal 8 initiatives?  Dries has announced that Drupal 8 will switch its default doctype from XHTML to HTML5.  This is the fifth Drupal 8 initiative that Dries has announced.  It follows the initiative announcement for configuration management, design, web services, and multilingual initiatives.  The owner for this new initiative is Jacine Luisi.  

 

House of Representatives Looking for Drupal Vendors

The U.S. House of Representatives is looking to engage pre-approved vendors to create custom websites on the House Drupal platform.

 

 

The U.S. House of Representatives is the latest, large government organization to transition their online presence to Drupal.  It’s no small project, however, considering the House currently hosts approximately 520 unique sites on a combination of over a dozen proprietary and open source content management platforms – and now, they all need to be powered by Drupal.

Microsoft has promised to continue development of Skype on competing platforms

After months of speculation over who would buy Skype and after rumors that Facebook would acquire it, Microsoft acquires Skype. The company has announced that it has acquired the VoIP giant for $8.5 billion. Skype will now be integrated into Microsoft devices and systems such Xbox and Kinect, Xbox Live, the Windows Phone, Lync and Outlook.
